Time recording: the ruling that sets limits to the paper format

22 June 2022

Recording the working day on a piece of paper at the start of work is invalid, according to a ruling of the Audiencia Nacional (National High Court).the recording of the working day is a mandatory aspect that companies must follow. The aim is to collect the actual working time of employees and to put an end to unpaid overtime. However, not all forms of time recording are valid. It is important that the record is effective and contains all the data related to the working day.

This has been established by a recent ruling of the National Court of Justice. The ruling declared invalid the register of a company that made its workers sign in on a piece of paper at the beginning of the working day.
